I helped to shape the content of the İzdüşüm documentary and presented it. İzdüşüm set out to bring to the screen how the movements of architecture and art in the world were reflected in Türkiye. Made by the in-house production team of TRT and broadcast on TRT Belgesel, it showed the reflections of Art Nouveau and Modernism in Türkiye in two episodes in 2017. Both episodes are in Turkish.

İzdüşüm aims to help the architectural culture of Türkiye grow, and to be a record of the richness of the country in culture, art and architecture. Its first episode focuses on the Art Nouveau heritage of Türkiye. Art Nouveau was born in the 19th century as a reaction to the standardisation and the break with craft that followed the industrial revolution. The documentary shows how it found a wide place in Istanbul, the heart of the Ottoman Empire in its years of decline, above all in Galata and Pera, and how it spread under the patronage of Sultan Abdülhamid II. It visits dozens of different buildings, from houses to mosques, and from religious buildings to the first fashion house built in this land. The documentary was prepared with the guidance of Prof. Dr. Afife Batur, a valued scholar whom we lost in recent years, and was broadcast in 2017.

The architect Müge Cengizkan prepared the content of the second episode of İzdüşüm, and the architect Banu Uçak presented it. The episode focuses on the heritage of modern architecture that the newly founded Republic of Türkiye gave to its land. This architecture was not only a movement: it reflected the project to build a modern Türkiye. In Ankara, a capital built from nothing in the 20th century, the episode tells the story of well-known buildings through their unknown, unseen spaces and their architectural details.
