On 11 December 2025, we shared Yalın Şeyler at Salt Galata with friends from architecture, design, arts and culture, with those who had contributed to the book, and with journalists. Supported by Kalebodur, the evening was our first major opportunity to come together around the book after a long period of work.
In writing it, I had wanted to open up a discussion of architecture’s fundamental questions through Yalın Mimarlık’s work. The gatherings that might grow around the book were part of this thinking. We saw the launch at Salt Galata as one of the first occasions to put into practice an idea that Ömer Selçuk Baz and I shared, developed with Sibel Keyvan coordinating the process.
The evening was also accompanied by the Yalın Şeyler Dolabı exhibition, curated by Heval Zeliha Yüksel. Alongside the connections I had explored in words, sketches, models and working notebooks offered another way to follow the architectural process and discuss the practice’s accumulated experience.
For me, sharing the book with readers also meant bringing the questions that had occupied me while writing into conversation with other people’s thoughts. In the conversations at Salt Galata, we began to see how the space we had imagined around the book might develop.
I remember it as a joyful, unforgettable evening, and as the beginning of the visits and talks that followed. My thanks to everyone who contributed to the book and the evening, to Sibel Keyvan for coordinating it, to Kalebodur for their support, and to all the friends who joined us.
